For Gaby and Isabelle’s wedding reception in The Salon at Spring Restaurant, we lined the tables with light and dainty late Spring blooms.
Papery poppies of the most unbelievable shades – shocking fuchsia, languid cerise, burning crimson, smokey greys and dusty mauves – danced along, their stems drawing wiggling and winding lines before our eyes. Pansies poked their painterly heads through tufts of grass and strawberry plantlets. At the edges, tangles of the wonderfully shaggy Rosa mutabilis with its thin, dark stems and simply magical petal colouring. Then again: the frilliest scarlet geums, deep dark cornflowers, zingy tellima spires. To finish, in true No Mow May style, tall, tickling wild grasses spill from the vessels, softly swaying.
